Trusting God

TODAY’S VERSE

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. – By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.
Hebrews 11:1, 17-19 (NIV)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
How great is God’s patience toward us! How longsuffering He is with us. He knows how weak we are. He knows how scarred, bruised and weary we can get, and like a dog that is skittish with a new master, our faith weans in His presence. Our disappointments, fears and doubts keep us from trusting Him. And yet His love patiently waits. He knows that “confidence” and “assurance” is a growth process. In today’s passage is a tremendous testimony of Abraham’s faith. He trusted God even while he lifted his knife to sacrifice his only son. Yet this was the same man that almost gave up his wife’s fidelity when he told Pharaoh that Sarah was his sister. Why? Because he was afraid, he did not trust God. He was the same man who had a child with his wife’s handmaiden. Why? Because he did not believe God would bring about the son that He had promised. Oh the love of God, to patiently show more of Himself over a lifetime to Abraham so he would grow in confidence and that his assurance of God’s faithfulness would increase. As a result it was recorded of Abraham for all the ages, “Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead.” Today, do not despair; God is not finished with you yet. Get back up and let God grow in you a deep confidence and an absolute assurance.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Oh Father of Abraham, how I pray that you would grow in me a deep confidence and absolute assurance of You and Your love for me. I believe Lord, but help my unbelief. Increase my faith that I would be a living testimony of your power and faithfulness. In Jesus’ name I pray.
AMEN

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
