Faith During The Storm

“The disciples went and woke him up, shouting, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!’ When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped and all was calm. Then he asked them, “Where is your faith?”
Luke 8:24-25 (NLT)

I am so in the boat. Tossed and turned by life’s waves it is easy to start doubting the love and power of God. The disciples were in the boat and a fierce storm came up. It was so fierce that they panicked. They woke Jesus crying and shouting, “Master, we are going to drown.” Jesus woke up and calmed the storm. Then He asked, “Where is your faith?” On one hand they did cry out to Jesus, but on the other hand they were acting out in total fear. How could that be? How, after all they had seen and heard, could they still panic with Jesus right next to them? In fact, after Jesus cleared away the storm, Luke wrote, “The disciples were terrified and amazed. ‘Who is this man?’ they asked each other. ‘When he gives a command, even the wind and waves obey him!’” Perhaps that’s where we should start. Who is this man? Who is Jesus? Knowing the answer can make all the difference. Today, ask Jesus to help you know Him better and better. Maybe next time a storm comes, we will rest in peace like Jesus did.

Dear Jesus, help me know You better. Help me learn to trust You and rest in the storms of life. Help me have the faith to trust You.

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
