Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them.
Romans 12:9 (NLT)
It is so easy to pretend. When it comes to loving others it is easy to go through the motions superficially loving someone but doing the hard work that makes love really love. Paul writes that we are to “really” love each other and in case we do not understand his meaning he gives us a list of loving attributes. He writes, “Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. When God’s people are in need, be ready to help them. Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with each other and finally, do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.” Today, consider all those that you will be with and with God’s grace, don’t pretend to love others, really love them.
Dear Father, You are love so I ask that through the power of Your Holy Spirit, help me to quit pretending and really love others.
