TODAY’S VERSE
So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is so easy to give up. Irritations, discomforts, inconvenience can sidetrack us so we do not finish the work God has called us to. Loving people, doing the work of God can get messy and yet God promises that we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. What astonishes me the most is who wrote this. I could see me writing telling everyone not to give up from my life of relative ease. But no, it was Paul. Paul who wrote of his life of ministry, “I have been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again. Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea. I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers.- I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food. I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm.” If Paul could say, “Let’s not get tired of doing what is good”, what will you and I say?
TODAY’S PRAYER
Father, help me not to get weary from doing good. Help me to do Your will in Your power and Your love. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
