Helping Others
TODAY’S VERSE
They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity.
II Corinthians 8:2 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Our model for Christian living is Jesus and the New Testament Church. Paul followed Jesus and lived a life of sacrifice and he asked the churches he started to do the same. Today’s verse shares about the churches in Macedonia. They were suffering with troubles and were very poor but they gave themselves fully to the Lord. They were filled with abundant joy and were eager to help others. Paul testified that, “They gave not only what they could afford, but far more. And they did it of their own free will.” It begs the questions, “What is God doing in our church? What is He doing in our life?” “How generous are we?” Today, follow the New Testament example, give yourself fully to the Lord and be full of joy, eager to help others.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, thank You for Your love and joy. Help me to use what I have to help others. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
