Greed

TODAY’S VERSE

Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.
Luke 12:15 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
We must guard against greed. Our society pushes materialism, so we end up trying to bolster our self-image with possessions, prestige and status. But Christianity flies in the face of materialistic greed. It begs the question, “When is it enough?” In this same passage as today’s verse, Jesus counters our need for greed by saying, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need. – Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! – Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.” If we want to obey Jesus, then we must guard our heart by being on guard against greed. God has a different standard, a different measuring stick for this life. Today, listen to Jesus, “Life is not measured by how much you own.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, stir my heart. Help me to love what You love, to desire what You desire and to be on guard against every kind of greed. In Your Holy name I pray.
AMEN

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
