And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8 (NIV)
The nation of Israel had lost their love for God. They bought into idolatry and were not living according to God’s standards. The prophet Micah wrote a scathing rebuke accusing them of idolatry, exploitation of the poor and not knowing right from wrong. In repentance they asked God what they should do? Micah answers by telling them to act justly, love mercy and to walk humbly with God. What about us? Is God a vital part of our life? Are we living according to His word? Today, let us heed the words of Micah and do what is required of us. Let’s humble ourself before God and bring mercy and justice to all those around us.
Dear Father, forgive me for my lack of humility before you. Forgive me for my apathy toward justice and mercy. Instead, help me to align my life according to Your will. Today, I want to walk humbly with You, being full of justice and mercy.
