TODAY’S VERSE
Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?
Luke 6:46 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Obedience is an important part in discipleship. Our pride, desires and ambitions often get in the way, and if we are not careful, we will find ourself in a state of rebellion. To get His point about obedience across, Jesus used the illustration of building a house. He taught that the foundation we build our life on is key. Those of us that choose to listen to Him and obey His words are compared to a wise builder that has a solid foundation under his home. When the storms come the house stands. If we do not obey, we are building our home on the sand and when the storms come, the house will fall. So today, let’s do both, call Jesus Lord and do what He says to do.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, forgive me for the times I have called You Lord and yet have not done what You have told me to do. Help me today to take Your Lordship seriously and dedicate myself to obeying Your teachings.
AMEN
