TODAY’S VERSE
And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?
Luke 6:41 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
Way before Freud ever came up with the term “projection” Jesus was teaching on interpersonal relationships. Who has ever created a better behavioral principle than, “Do to others as you would like them to do to you?” Another principle Jesus taught us was to be responsible for our own behavior rather than worrying about what others are doing. Jesus elaborated on today’s verse saying, “How can you think of saying, ‘Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.” Today, may the Lord, through the power of the Holy Spirit, help us take care of our own behavior and not judge others for theirs.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me for obsessing over everyone else’s sins and not taking care of my own. Today, help me with my own behavior. In Jesus’ name I pray.
AMEN
