If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
I John 1:8-9 (NLT)
This is one of my favorite passages. Why? Because it is so liberating. Liberating in the fact that I can own my sin. I don’t have to hide it, blame it on someone else, ignore it, or repress it. Instead I can confess it. Liberating in its forgiveness. I can confess my sin without retribution, without fear, without condemnation, without shame. Why? Because God promises that if we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. Today, let your confession of sin and His faithfulness to forgive and cleanse your conscience liberate you.
Dear Father, how thankful I am that I can come to You with all my sin and find that You are faithful and just to forgive me all of my sins and cleanse me from all my wickedness. How I praise You. In Jesus’ name.
