No Shame

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.
Ephesians 3:18 (NLT)

Shame keeps so many of us from understanding how much we are really loved by God. In her book, “It Wasn’t Your Fault,” Beverly Engel explains what shame is like. She writes, “When we feel guilt, we feel badly about something we did or neglected to do. When we feel shame, we feel badly about who we are. Guilty people fear punishment, shamed people fear abandonment. When we feel guilty we need to learn it is okay to make mistakes. When we feel shamed we need to learn it’s okay to be who we are. Internalized shame is experienced as a deep sense of who a person is – the feeling that she is defective or never good enough.” Paul speaks to this internalized shame when he writes, “May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.” Oh my friend, rebuke shame today. It is a lie! Instead may God in all His grace help you understand today, how wide, how long and how deep you are truly loved. God has taken all your guilt and has left you with no shame!

Dear Father, my normal posture is to look down in shame. But today You have lifted my head. You have looked into my eyes and have whispered, “No shame!” Bless You Lord! I receive it in Jesus’ name.

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
