But I am like an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I will always trust in God’s unfailing love.
Psalms 52:8 (NLT)

An Olive tree was an important tree in Biblical times. With its extensive root system it was able to grow in the rocky arid land. Olives produced oil for cooking, lighting, medicine and skin care. Olives were also an important food throughout the year. The hard wood was used for special furniture, statues and paneling. Being so dependent on the olive crop, it was important that the trees thrived in the groves where they were planted. They had to be planted in the right soil, in the right location with enough space between each tree. With this in mind David wrote that he was like a thriving olive tree that was planted in the temple of God. He thrived in God’s presence, being nourished by God’s unfailing love. There is a difference between living and thriving. Thriving is to grow and develop well or vigorously. It is to flourish full of life and vitality. This is what God desires for you. Today, decide to live in the full awareness of God’s presence in your life. Make a deliberate choice to know Him. Renounce any negative beliefs about yourself and pronounce out loud that you are a loved child of God. Quit living and start thriving. Thrive in His presence by trusting in His unfailing love.

Dear Father, I want to do more than simply living. More than existing; coping from day to day. Lord, I want to thrive in Your presence. Help me grow in Your unfailing love.

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
