For that is what God is like. He is our God forever and ever, and he will guide us until we die.
Psalms 48:14 (NLT)
There are so many ways to describe God. So many attributes, so many names for God. He is all powerful, all wise, omnipresent, all love, all knowing. He is our strength, our provider, our salvation, our protector. We could go on and on, but in today’s verse David mentions two characteristics of God worth our consideration. First our God is forever and ever. To try and comprehend the immensity of eternity is so beyond our ability that it illustrates the futility of even trying to imagine the totality of God Himself. He is so far beyond our understanding. But in an almost ironic fashion, David juxtaposes this vastness of God against something within our grasp. Next to this all-encompassing, “God is forever and forever,” David states, “He will guide us until we die.” How comforting is that? Our God, the only true and wise God, loves us so much that He will guide us for the rest of our life. The question is, “Will you let Him?” Today cry out God, whose love for you is never ending, and ask Him to guide you for the rest of your life.
Almighty Father, thank You for Your majesty! Truly You are far beyond my comprehension. How I worship You! Today, I yield myself to You. I humbly ask that You guide me and direct my paths for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name.
