Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
Luke 6:36 (ESV)
It is hard to exaggerate about the radicalness of Jesus’ teaching. There are many who have claimed to be prophets but no one has ever taught and lived like Jesus. He lived a life of love, even in His death on the cross. His teaching demands the same of us. He said, “But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you.” He hasn’t called us to be believers; He has called us to be His disciples. Imagine what the world would be like if everyone of us who entered a church entered a life of radical obedience to the kind of love Christ has called us to! It’s not too late! We can start today.
Oh Merciful Father, Our God who is love, fill us with Your Spirit. Help us live as Jesus did. Empower us to love with Your love! In Jesus’ name and for His sake.
