Do The Word

TODAY’S VERSE
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
James 1:22 (NLT)

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Self-deception is so real. Denial can keep an addict in their addiction. It can keep us from living the way God wants us to. The way to overcome deception is to expose ourself to the word of God and then do what it says. For example James writes in this same passage, “So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.” He continues, “Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like. But if you look carefully into the perfect law that sets you free, and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.” Today, read the word, but just don’t read it, meditate and ask God to show you what you need to do. Be a “doer” of the word and not just a “hearer.”

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, forgive me when I just read Your word and ignor what it says. Help me to obey what You say and to live the way You want me to.
AMEN

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
