TODAY’S VERSE
Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Romans 7:13-14 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
It is hard to wrestle with our human condition. Paul struggled with this. He wrote, “I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway.” Paul came to grips with the fact that he was a human being, flawed and prone to sin. Yet at the same time he knew he was born again and strived to live the life Christ called him to. He knew that Heaven would be a sweet metamorphosis. He wrote, “I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me.” And so Paul constantly forgot the past and pressed on. We too must let go of our sins of the past, seek forgiveness and press on. Better yet, we must press “into” Jesus! Today, get up and cleanse your heart. Ask Jesus to forgive you, help you, guide you and to give you strength to live the life He has called you to.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus. You know my propensity toward sin. But I will not be discouraged. Instead, I will press on and press into You. Help me, guide me, give me the strength to live the life You have called me to live.
AMEN
