TODAY’S VERSE
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
The word understanding is so deceiving. It is like quicksand. It looks like a normal pathway, a solid footing, but as soon as you go forward you begin to sink. Most of what we think is understanding is often a misunderstanding. Our self-beliefs, assumptions about others, our interpretations of the past and predictions of the future are often skewed. Other people’s motives, deceptive messages, false promises, good intentions, procrastination all make planning a slippery slope. This is why Solomon, out of all his wisdom given to him by God, shared perhaps his wisest advice, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not depend on your own understanding.” He says with all our heart. That is both an intellectual assent and an emotional commitment. So today, seek God in all you do. Ask Him for direction and wisdom. If you do, He promises to direct your path.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, help me to let go of my own understanding and to seek Your direction in all I do. I need Your help, I need You to guide me. I ask this in Jesus’ name.
AMEN
