So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives.
Galatians 5:16 (NLT)
We have choices. God doesn’t force us to follow Him. However He has given us His Holy Spirit to guide us, direct us, teach us and produce Godly character into our life. However God allows us to decide if we want to do this. Paul teaches that the flesh and the Holy Spirit are at war inside us and we need to allow the Holy Spirit to win. We do this through the choices we make. It is saying “No” to some things and “Yes” to others. Paul shares that the result of following the desire of our base nature is: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. But he also writes that the result of allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our life is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Today choose what you will say “No” to and to what you will say, “Yes.”
Dear Father, I want the Holy Spirit to guide my life. I say, “Yes” to love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Help me say, “No” to everything else.
