TODAY’S VERSE
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

TODAY’S THOUGHT
Life is not a sprint. It is a long distance race. However, with all the stress, all the demands of life, in our “have to have it NOW!” world we live in, it feels like a sprint. But that is the deception of what has been called the “Tyranny of the urgent!” The seemingly urgent interruptions keep us off focus. They creates stress, worry and fear. We run around like Chicken Little crying, “The sky is falling!” Yet all the while God is still on His Throne. He knows all about us. We are still in His loving arms. Instead of continually reacting and attempting to cope, we need to take away those things that interrupt our spirituality. We need to get rid of habits that lead us in the wrong direction or keep tripping us up. We need to pray and manage our time rather than being a slave to it. We need to prioritize our activities and make sure we are doing the things that keep us spiritually alive. The author of Hebrews writes, “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” It’s all about the focus. We focus on Jesus. Today, see the long journey before you and decide to travel it with Jesus one day at a time.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Jesus, help me keep my focus on You. Help me live one day at a time, knowing that I am on this glorious journey with You. Help me rid myself of whatever it is that is hindering me. Help me Lord I pray.
AMEN
