TODAY’S VERSE
Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.
Hebrews 13:15-16 (NLT)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
When you read the word, “sacrifice” in the Bible, what do you think of? In the Old Testament tradition you may be thinking of the sacrificial offerings of animals for our sins. In the Pharisaical tradition you might think of sacrificial behavior, in the sense of self-denial, asceticism or the strict following of ritualistic traditions. But as we look at today’s passage we the types of sacrifices that pleases God. What God is pleased with is when we praise Him for who He is and all the good He has done. Another sacrifice that pleases God is when we give ourself to Him. When we submit to Him our allegiance and live for Him. Finally, when we do good and share with those in need, this is a sacrifice that is pleasing to God. Today, you can bring your sacrifice to God by praising Him, giving yourself allegiance to Him and living for others.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Father, I praise You for who You are and all that You have done in my life. I give You my allegiance and pledge to do good and help others. Please accept my humble sacrifice. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
