Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.
Psalms 103:2 (NLT)
There are many things that we praise. We praise a winning sports team. We praise a talented musician. But how much do we really praise God? We can remember a championship that happened decades ago and praise the team. We get emotional and praise the remembrance of a concert we attended as a teenager. But how much do we remember of God’s great deeds? David writes, “Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.” David could write this because he experienced God. He knew Him. He spent time in God’s presence and depended upon Him time and time again for His protection and guidance. David was called, “A man after God’s own heart.” Oh that I would be like David. That I would raise my awareness of God all around me. That I would trust Him in all things. That I would read and meditate on His word. Then and only then would I begin to praise God; I would experience God in a way that would be unforgettable. That is my heart’s desire. Is it yours?
Dear Lord, forgive me for my pitiful praise. Forgive me for my spiritual amnesia. How I long to be like David. I want to be a person that experiences you in a real and vital reality. Come Lord, fill my life. Then my heart will be filled with praise and my mind with remembrance. In Jesus’ name.
