I cry out to the LORD; I plead for the LORD’s mercy. I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles. When I am overwhelmed, you alone know the way I should turn.
Psalms 142:1-3 (NLT)
Have you ever felt overwhelmed? When you do, what do you do? Do you cry out to God? Do you plead for Him to hear you, to have mercy? This is what David did. It is what we should do. David knew centuries before Christ’s famous words, “Abide in me and I in you!” what it was like to abide or remain in God. He would pour out his complaints to God, tell Him all his troubles, he would stay with God even when he was overwhelmed. He would abide with God. And God would show him the way he should turn. God abided with Him. This is what Jesus had to say, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” Today, abide in Him, spend time with God and remain aware of His abiding presence.
Dear Father, help me to be honest with You, to remain focused on You, to hear from You. I want to abide in You and have You abide in me.
