Letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
Romans 8:6 (NLT)
That verse, “You have not because you ask not” could easily be applied to living with God’s Spirit alive in our heart. How can we really live the Christian life to the fullness if we don’t understand that God in the Spirit lives within us and wants to direct our life? How can we ask if we don’t understand how much the Spirit is part of who we are as believers? Paul made it clear in this same passage when he wrote, “The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.” And again when he added, “You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you.” There are two significant words for in. The first use of “in” is like walking through a gate. We are entering a new Pasture. A new land. But Paul is talking about a deeper reality. He uses the second word for “in” that is we are in a new sphere of reality. Like a baby in a womb. We are in a new reality. We are living in the realm of God’s presence, His control, His Spirit. We are in an atmosphere of His Spirit where we can choose to breath and live and have our being. So Paul writes, “Letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.” What a wonderful reality if you would only realize where you are. You are in a new realm, a new atmosphere on where God Himself will direct you through His Spirit if you ask Him. Today, ask Him.
Dear Father, thank You for Your Spirit inside of me. I acknowledge His presence and ask the Holy Spirit to control my life. Guide me, direct me, live through me I pray. In Jesus’ name.
