No Test

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1 (NLT)

It is easy to fall into the trap of performing for God. After all, He is the ultimate standard bearer. But as we read the New Testament, we see a different story. It is a story of grace, forgiveness and mercy. Unfortunately, many of us grew up in a culture that cultivated a “fixed” rather than a “growth” mindset. A fixed mindset means that you have a prescribed set of talents at birth and will be judged by the performance your talents allow you to exhibit. A growth mindset says that you have innate ability to achieve many tasks and that the critical difference is knowing how to do a task and your willingness to work hard at it. The author, Carol Dweck, shares the difference. She vacationed in a country and had a good time. However, when she was finishing her trip, she decided to spend some time in another country. It was at dinner one night in the second country that she had an epiphany. Because of her American status, she felt that in the first country she had “passed the test.” However, in the second country she noticed, “There was no test!” It is so easy to get the wrong idea and believe that we must earn our salvation. As a result, at the end of every day, we end up thinking, “Whew, today I passed the test!” But the real reality is that salvation is a free gift from God. None of us can boast that we earned it. Therefore, Paul is empathic in saying, “There is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.” What does this mean? It means that today, my friend, you are deeply loved by God and can live in the joyful realization that that there is no test!

Dear Father, thank You for providing my salvation through the blood of Your son Jesus Christ. I no longer have to live in fear or worry about not meeting Your standard. Thank You that there is no test, there is no condemnation!
In Jesus’ name

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
