TODAY’S VERSE
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
I Timothy 1:15 (KJV)
TODAY’S THOUGHT
“No Perfect People Allowed”. I first heard this phrase in a message by John Burke, Pastor of Gateway Church in Texas. I find it appealing because it allows us the freedom to be who we are in Christ. It is like the phrase, “Christians aren’t perfect, they are forgiven.” Yet why is it we come to church and pretend that everything is okay and never seek out the help we need? Could it be due to the fact that when someone does something wrong, they so often end up being ostracized from the rest of the fellowship? We need to work on getting rid of the stigma of falling down in our Christian walk and learn to help each other back up. People are looking for a Christianity where they can belong. Where they can be authentic and real with their life story. That is why Paul told us to “bear one another’s burdens,” not to pretend we don’t have any.
The good news is that Christ convicts, corrects, forgives, gives grace and helps us get up after a fall and try again. We are not perfect, but thank God, He has a perfect plan. Begin today, with all your struggles and imperfections, to live for Him and rejoice in His unconditional love for you.
TODAY’S PRAYER
Lord, I am tired of trying to be perfect. I cannot do it. Instead, help me mature in Your grace and forgiveness. Thank you, Lord, for accepting me with all my imperfections. In Jesus’ name.
AMEN
