Love More

Clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace.

Colossians 3:12-15 (NLT)

Paul was on to something. He knew what would work. He had traveled around his known world and visited church after church. He knew what the church needed to do to thrive. It needed to love each other more and more. They needed to create an atmosphere of acceptance, love and forgiveness. We need the same today. We need churches where we don’t have to wear masks, we don’t have to hide from each other. A place where we can admit our shortcomings because we know that ours sins do not define us, rather, who we are in Christ does! This is the subject of the book, “The Cure.” In it the authors write that we put too much emphasis on “Sinning less!” They are quick to point out that this causes us to be phony, judgmental and unloving. Instead they eloquently write that we don’t have to “Sin less.” We need to “Love more!” They point out, “We can sin less and not love more. But if we love more, we will sin less!” Paul writes again to the Colossians, “He has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News.” The truth is we are forgiven. We don’t have to sin less. Christ already knows our sins. He knows who we are and the struggles we have. He has totally forgiven us and set us apart for His service. Instead He wants us to love more! Read today’s verse again. If we really follow what it says, we will love more! And if we love more, we will sin less!

Father, help me to embrace the truth of your love for me. Help me to quit focusing on sinning less and more on loving more.

About Ronald

I am a Christian who deeply believes in God and the purposes He has put us on earth for. I started in ministry when I was 20 years old. I have been involved in both evangelism and compassion ministires. I deeply believe in our mission to help those in need. I believe however, that the church has missed our calling. We have not been effective in loving others as we would love ourselves. We have not been using our Spiritual Gifts to make a difference in this world. We have not mobilized to be the salt and light in the world. The goal of this web site is to help those interested to use their Spiritual Gifts in order to fulfill the mission Christ has given us to love the world.
